Mammoth, CA. Mountains created by a super volcano. The pictures on this page
were primarily taken in 3 distinct areas. First set were taken after hiking to
the top of the ski runs at 4 am of the night sky. There were shooting stars
visible to the naked eye about every 2 minutes. Next series were taken from
Horseshoe lake area. The area of dead trees are caused by CO2 gasses being
emitted through the ground. There are warnings around the lake about gas
build-up hazards. The third series were taken from the middle of the volcano,
some while still sitting in a natural hot-spring. Natural hot springs were
present in a few locations. The first and fourth areas were within a few hundred
yards of each other.
